Early Help Assessment

​If an Early Help Assessment is needed, the Early Help Assessment Lead will generally lead on this liaising with other agencies and setting up an inter-agency assessment as appropriate. Staff may be required to support other agencies and professionals in an Early Help Assessment, in some cases acting as the lead practitioner.

Early Help at Priory Park Community School

 

Attendance

  • Attendance data is monitored by assigned staff (Headteacher and School Attendance Welfare Officer).

  • Regular reporting to Governors around attendance.

  • Letters home, followed up by warning letters.

  • First day calling.

  • Home visits for attendance concerns.

  • Termly Letters to all parents with Attendance Summary, Attendance is Everyone’s Responsibility and Attendance Promise documents.

  • Monitoring groups in high mobility or absence requests.

 

Curriculum

  • Access to one-to-one support, paired and group work where needed.

  • Themed Days.

  • Interventions for vulnerable pupils.

  • PSHCE delivery.

  • Topics and themes driven by pupils' aspirations, relevance to both own culture and the local area, key questioning and development of language skills.

  • Access to breakfast club before school.

 

Financial Support

  • Support with purchasing school uniform.

  • Breakfast club.

  • Signposting to local charities including food banks.

  • Food parcels and hot food scheme provided directly from LKS.

 

Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs

  • Hearing what children have to say and using the voice of the child.

  • Mental Health Lead Network (Natalie Kirby)

  • Referrals to CAMHS (Children, Adolescent Mental Health Service)

  • Referrals to Educational Psychology Service

  • Pastoral Support Programme

  • Staff training in ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ASD (Autism), ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder).

  • Access to Virtual School Team for Looked after Children

 

Supporting Families

  • Hearing what parents / carers have to say and building relationships with them.

  • Raising awareness of safeguarding issues via our Wake Up Wednesday Social Media posts

  • School tours and / or visit sessions.

  • Termly Celebration Event

  • Pastoral support.

  • Access to SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice Support Service).

  • Signposting to external agencies and training.

  • Using the Early Help Assessment.

 

Transition

  • Induction Days

  • Pupil records passed from school to school.

  • SENCO liaises with SENCOs from other schools to pass on records and information about pupils.

  • DSL liaises with DSLs from other schools to pass on records and information about pupils.

  • Visits for prospective families.

  • Work with key partners
